This is a (shorter) repost of a Crabster post. Captcha module seemed to break some kind of storage engine of the drupal database...finally got it back working.

Bluetooth bot

A bunch of things thrown together for fun and testing

This is another WIP, in this case a mini rover that would go around my house avoiding obstacles and exploring. It's a total mess of cables and components. The base is an aluminum plate with two hacked futaba 3003 servos as motors, and a free rotational wheel in the back (or front? :D  ) of the bot. It's powered by an 8 AA battery holder that will give up to 13 volts for new alcaline batteries or  9.6 for rechargeables. More than enough.

This is a WIP on an animatronics Geisha face. There was this papier maché gueisha that my daughter and I (mostly) had build for school. It had been lying around for quite a while and my wife said "enough, lets get rid of it". So the waste was its destiny. I thought it was a shame since it looked pretty neat, so I figured out I could try to do a simple animation of the head with a couple of servos and that argument saved her from her fatal fate.

Saturday 22nd of march: I spent the day in Barcelona, attending the 2014 Barcelona Robotics Meeting. So a bit early for saturday...I rode the train in the morning from Valencia (6:40 am) to Barcelona:

Who is that in the picture with me?. If reading this blog you sure know.

Hi there again!, let's go with Friday, almost over. So far great things, little sleep, IT, Arduino and IT gurus met. Gooood except for the weather: cold and rainy Friday in Berlin....

Lets do the follow up of wednesday and yesterday.
By the way you can follow up conferences in CP youtube channel:
http://www.youtube.com/user/campusparty/feed

You can also see live feed, but you need to login as campusero (and therefore register first if you're not yet):

Hi from Berlin, exactly from 2012 Campus Party!!!. Plane at 6:05 from Spain, then Zurich and finally Berlin. Yes, 6:05 a.m., that meant I woke up at 3:30 a.m. and got almost no sleep. Please excuse any incongruence you may read, please! :)  . Very interesting so far. As you can guess I'm in the robotics section. I don't have an asssembled one good enough (yet) to show, so I haven't brought a bot myself, but I'll post pictures of some others, most totally DIY which is awesome.

2012 Arduino DIY bots & line followers

In paralell with Pingubot developement race, was the arduino based bot. I liked better this one, since the Pingubot, except for the programming, had almost everything in its place mainly due to the integrated sensor bar and driver for motors.

Arduino has been a great platform for robotics and micro bots. Since it's open source, a lot of clones / mods based on it have flourished over the last 5 years. Main advantage is that code can be or mostly fully reused and Arduino's greatest asset is it's comunity and the great amount of shared work and code you can find on the Internet.
One of these is pinguino. While arduino is AVR microcontrolled based, pinguino is PIC based.

First steps 2011 picaxe workshop and picaxe line follower

In November I attended another course, this time based around a well known platform: PICAXE.

We worked with picaxe 28x1 project board. It was great fun and learning, because we had all the components, cut, printed, acid washed, drilled and soldered everything to get the board working. Flowchart programming was good for a start but it immediately becomes a mess if the program becomes just a bit long. It’s great for kids to start programming though.

First steps 2010 & 2011, microbots workshop

In spring of 2010, I attended a microbot workshop where we were supposed to learn to build and program a simple line follower, with two sensors and two servos. 3003 Futaba servos where mechanically freed from tops and potentiometer was detached from axis and left untouched (after being calibrated), so a pwm signal from the PIC microcontroller would mean continuous rotation movement in the servo.

Hi there,
From now on posts will be mainly in English. The further reached the better.

I'll be posting some details about how I got into trying to learn about and building Robots.
